Manufacturers always have their own legends. And even people far from music have usually heard of the Yamaha piano, Bossendorfer grand pianos, Sigma and Fender guitars or Casio synthesizers. So among the manufacturers of accordions, accordions and harmonies, the Weltmeister brand once resounded all over the world. Yes, there, the quality and design of these instruments still enjoy a good reputation among professional musicians and teachers. Today we will tell everything we know about the German “World Champions” – this is how the word Weltmeister translates.
History of the Champions from Klingenthal In most cases, behind a successful brand are people who are inspired by their work and want to change the world for the better. Even in the recipe for victory, as a rule, there is a little luck. Luck is basically needed for these most inspired and talented people to meet at the right time in the right place. This is exactly the place that Klingenthal in Saxony, Germany, once became. By some miracle, in the middle of the 17th century, talented masters who made violins, as well as wind instruments made of wood and copper, began to concentrate there.
The masters were Czech immigrants. In two centuries, the masters not only assimilated on German soil, but also gathered and educated new generations of craftsmen in Klingenthal. By the 19th century, the harmonica had become extremely fashionable in those parts. Klingenthal craftsmen began to make these instruments, and soon the city became the largest producer of harmonicas in Germany. In 1852, someone Adolf Herold brought the first simple accordion to Klingenthal. It was somewhat reminiscent of an enlarged harmonica, so the masters quickly understood the device and soon made the first remark. And a new instrument made by Klingeltal masters began to gain popularity: the accordion.
