How to choose a violin by size?

The easiest way for a musician to determine the size of a violin is to try it on. To do this, the violinist should position the instrument, resting it on his left shoulder, and then extend his relaxed arm forward. If the size is chosen correctly, the violin’s head should be at the level of the middle of the musician’s palm, and the fingers can easily embrace the head.

Suppose the violin is shorter or longer than necessary. Then when making music, especially for a long time, the muscles of the arm, neck and shoulder will be overstrained, which will lead to long-term discomfort, and even injuries. Of course, such a turn of events will not add enthusiasm to the student. That is why it is so important to choose the right size violin.

Well and the important moment which the future musician should be guided by – convenience. If we assume that the size is chosen correctly, then the model should be selected so that the musician was comfortable holding the instrument, playing it. After all, the violin, like any other instrument, especially the first, must be liked.
